Pet Therapy Training Class

Pet Therapy work can be very fulfilling. It is a great way to give back to the community while hanging out with your dog.  If you and your dog enjoy interacting with people, then this just may be the perfect volunteer opportunity for the two of you.

Pet Therapy volunteers might visit local hospitals, nursing homes, shelters for domestic violence, mental health programs, and treatment centers for youth, just to name a few.  

Let us help you prepare for the pet therapy certification evaluation.  The evaluation covers walking skills, basic obedience, and handling.  The exact same skills we will work on during this 6 week class.

 Sit, Down, Stay, Wait, Leave It, handling, leash walking and exposure to health aids. 

Week 6 will be a mock pet therapy evaluation with a pet therapy evaluator.

- For dogs 6 months and older

- For dogs that have completed a basic training class

- Class is limited to 5 dog/human teams

- Dogs must be current on their vaccinations

  Group classes can often be overwhelming to aggressive or reactive dogs.  If your dog is extremely fearful or has shown aggressive behavior around other dogs or humans, please contact us to discuss your situation before you register for class.
